i
came to photography after an earlier career in music. it was whilst
studying film and video at the london college of printing that i
realized that the still image held an endless fascination for me.
the amount of time spent in the college darkrooms gave that away.
my
graduation film 'wrestling with time' was a personal travelogue
constructed from slides shot on the move combined with super 8 footage.
this reflected the genre of photography in which i began.
following
the degree, a series of part-time courses culminating in photojournalism,
at tower hamlets college, focussed and honed my photographic sensibility
and direction. i became the first recipient of the metro special
student award in 1999. meantime, i also worked as an assistant to
noted photojournalist, simon norfolk.
private
commissions have included publicity for zippo's circus, madame jojos
and the electric ballroom.
much
of the year from september 2001 was spent back and forth between
london and new york concentrating on the 'allegiance' project, viewable
through this site.
i
am currently working on a number of projects that are portrait and
documentary based.
